Are you a Rock, Attacker, Architect, or Artist? Pro Kyle Koszuta's insightful new test reveals your natural strengths — and inherent weaknesses.
Not every pickleball player tries to win the same way.
Some players believe that if they keep putting one more ball back in play, eventually a mistake will break their way.
Others would rather take control immediately. They drive, speed up, and apply pressure because waiting for something to happen has never really been their style.
Some spend the first few points gathering information. They notice your favorite patterns, find the shots that make you uncomfortable, and slowly make it feel like everything you normally rely on has stopped working.
And some players see possibilities nobody else does. The unexpected angle. The last-second disguise. The change of pace that leaves everyone wondering, “What were we supposed to do with that?”
You’re probably picturing someone you know right now.
There’s also a good chance you recognize yourself.
So Which Type of Player Are You?
After analyzing more than 60,000 posts and comments from my online pickleball school, I noticed four playing styles showing up again and again:
The Rock. The Attacker. The Architect. And the Artist.
- The Artist wins by keeping opponents guessing.
- The Architect wins by outthinking opponents.
- The Attacker wins through constant pressure.
- The Rock wins through consistency.
But here’s what makes the four styles especially useful:
Every player has all four inside their game.

Most of us, however, naturally trust one more than the others, especially when the pressure rises and there’s no time to think. That’s your natural playing style.
It’s the instinct you return to most often. It shapes the opportunities you notice, the shots you choose, and the way opponents experience playing against you. But every natural strength comes with a predictable blind spot.
Rocks can become so committed to consistency that they wait too long to attack.
Attackers can become so eager to apply pressure that they attack before earning the right opportunity.
Architects can see so many possibilities that they hesitate instead of committing to the shot in front of them.
Artists can become so drawn to the creative shot that they overlook the simple one that would’ve won.
In other words, the instinct that makes you difficult to beat can also become the thing holding you back. And that insight led Koszuta to create the Pickleball Personality Test.
Take the Test
The free test uses 20 quick questions to identify your natural playing style and reveal how the other three styles influence your game.
When you finish, you’ll receive a personalized report showing:
- Why you click with certain partners and clash with others
- Where your natural style is most likely to get stuck
- Your greatest superpower on the court
- Your complete ranking of all four styles
More than 1,850 players have already taken the test, and one reaction keeps coming back:
“This is so spot-on, it’s scary.”
It’s free, takes about five minutes, and might explain a part of your game you’ve felt for years but never quite had a name for.
