by Jason Flamm on

Chain Store Age recently revealed the winners of its annual Breakout Retailer Awards, carefully selected by the publication's editors and industry experts.

Among the winners for 2024 was Chicken N Pickle. The award recognizes companies for their innovative approaches and dedication to growth within brick-and-mortar retail. The awards ceremony, sponsored by leading architecture and design engineering firm Stantec, took place at the 60th annual SPECS Show held from March 10-12 in Grapevine, Texas.

Marianne Wilson, the esteemed editor-in-chief of CSA, remarked, "The Breakout Retailer Award commends retail, restaurant, and innovative specialty concepts that are fervently investing in advancements and expansion within the realm of brick-and-mortar establishments. The recognized enterprises grasp the pivotal role of physical retail in today's multifaceted omnichannel landscape."

The Breakout Retailer Awards serve as a testament to the pivotal role brick-and-mortar establishments play in today's retail environment. By recognizing the achievements of these forward-thinking companies, Chain Store Age underscores the importance of embracing innovation and adaptability to meet the ever-changing demands and expectations of consumers in the modern retail landscape.

Joe Palermo, VP of Operations at Chicken N Pickle, was on hand to accept the award.

Chicken N Pickle is a family-friendly indoor/outdoor destination. Locations blend a laid-back restaurant and sports bar ambiance with dedicated pickleball courts and complimentary lawn games such as bocce ball, cornhole, shuffleboard, and more. One location even features a dog park.

Notable investors in Chicken N Pickle include NFL luminaries Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. There are currently 10 locations across the country, and plans are underway to open six more, including a forthcoming establishment in Henderson, Nevada, just outside Las Vegas.

Adhering to the mantra of "our hearts are local," the youthful enterprise takes pride in its community-centered approach. Each location actively partners with local nonprofits, facilitated by a dedicated community impact coordinator tasked with identifying opportunities for positive contributions to the areas served.

Congrats to Chicken N Pickle and cheers to the growth of more and more pickleball businesses for years to come.
