The Pro Invitational: A Brand New Format at the APP Sacramento Open
When Is It?

How Does the APP Tour Pro Invitational Work?
Six teams will each compete in men's doubles and women's doubles. The competition will be made up of Power Rounds and Championship Rounds.
Who Will Be Competing at the Pro Invitational?
The six women's doubles pairings are:
- Megan Fudge & Sofia Sewing
- Bobbi Oshiro & Katerina Stewart
- Allison Harris & Christine Maddox
- Amanda Hendry & Simone Jardim
- Shelby Bates & Roos Van Reek
- Jill Braverman & Emilia Schmidt
The six men's doubles pairings are:
- Richard Livornese, Jr. & Jack Munro
- Casey Diamond & Quang Duong
- Ronan Camron & Tanner Tomassi
- Max Manthou & Aidan Schenk
- Ryler DeHeart & Patrick Kawka
- Jae Centonze & Mark Dancuart
Power Rounds
- Each team will compete against each other in five Power Rounds
- Power Rounds will consist of 12 minutes of play with side-out scoring
- The first team to 11 by 2 will win the match for that round (score capped at 13)
- If time expires before a team gets to 11, the team in the lead will win the match
- If the score is tied 12-12 or at any score when time expires, there will be a sudden death "Golden Rally", where the team to win the next rally will win the match
Championship Rounds
- Following the Power Rounds, the teams will be seeded 1-6 based on records and tiebreakers
- The top two men's and women's doubles seeds will receive a bye into Round 2
- Rounds 1 and 2 will consist of 12 minutes of play with side-out scoring, similar to the Power Rounds
- In Round 1, Seed 3 will play Seed 6, and Seed 4 will play Seed 5. Single elimination -- winning teams advance, and losing teams are eliminated until the final two teams remain for both men's doubles and women's doubles
- Each Final Round will consist of best 2-of-3 to 11 with side-out scoring -- these matches are not timed, and winners will be crowned
Competitive Edges at the APP Sacramento Open Pro Invitational
There are two unique additions to the Pro Invitational that are different from the normal rules.
5 second clock on serves -- With these matches being timed, every second counts, so competitors only have 5 seconds from when the score is called to serve the ball.
Power Play Tokens -- Each team gets one Power Play Token per match. Essentially, if a team uses it, the next rally is worth double. For example, if I am serving at 3-1-1 and use my Power Play Token and win the rally, it is now 5-1-1. If I were to lose that rally, however, the score would 1-3-1 with the opposing team serving (I don't get my second serve).

Women's Singles at the APP Sacramento Open

Kat beat Bobbi in the first APP Tour event of the year in Seattle – can she get two in a row?
Men's Singles
Top Seeds

- Dusty Boyer
- Ryler DeHeart
Max Green (7 seed) ended up winning the title in Seattle with a couple of upsets. Can one of these top seeds take home gold, or are we going to see another underdog win?
Mixed Doubles
Top Seeds
- Sofia Sewing & Casey Diamond
- Bobbi Oshiro & Randy Blanco
- Megan Fudge & Richard Livornese
- Emilia Schmidt & Jack Munro
Diamond and Sewing won multiple golds together last year, and started off the year in mixed doubles playing with different partners. After winning silver at the US Open, it looks like they are partnering up once again -- can they take home gold?
Women's Doubles
Top Seeds
- Sofia Sewing & Megan Fudge
- Shelby Bates & Christine Maddox
- Amanda Hendry & Simone Jardim
- Natalie Raney & Jill Braverman
Sofia Sewing is no stranger to podium finishes, and Sewing and Fudge are looking to bounce back in Sacramento after the five seed Oshiro and Stewart took them down at the US Open. This matchup is worth watching all week.
Men's Doubles at the APP Sacramento Open
Top Seeds
- Jack Munro & Richard Livornese
- Aidan Schenk & Casey Diamond
- Tanner Tomassi & Ammar Wazir
- Max Manthou & Thomas Yu
Jack and Richard were upset early in Seattle, but they just won gold at the US Open -- can they make it two in a row? According to CBS Sports, the growth of professional pickleball events like the APP Sacramento Open continues to attract mainstream sports attention, making marquee matchups like this one must-watch television.
Tanner Tomassi has been one of the most compelling stories on tour, and his pairing with Ammar Wazir is the kind of threat that could derail any top seed. Don't sleep on the 3-seed in Sacramento.
The APP Tour has been building serious momentum heading into the middle of the 2026 season, and pro pickleball is evolving fast. The Sacramento event -- especially with the debut of the Pro Invitational format -- is shaping up to be one of the most exciting weekends of the year.
Quang Duong is another name to keep an eye on. Playing alongside Casey Diamond in the Pro Invitational, and with Schenk in men's doubles, there is no shortage of firepower on that side of the bracket.
Jack Munro has been on a tear, and if Sacramento mirrors the US Open, the top seed could be hoisting gold again by Sunday. NBC Sports has highlighted the rising mainstream visibility of APP Tour events as professional pickleball continues to expand its broadcast footprint across 2026.
