Major League Pickleball

MLP New York Event Preview

by Erik Tice on

Major League Pickleball (MLP) is back in New York City, specifically Randall’s Island. This is the second straight year the SPORTIME Randall’s Island has hosted MLP.

At last year’s event, we saw Ben Johns play for the Carolina Hogs for the last time, Erik Forsythe made his MLP debut, and Collin Johns went 8-2 in the Challenger Level for the Bay Area Breakers. WOW - how much can change in a year!

The sixth event of the 2026 MLP Season starts Thursday, June 25th. A quick recap of each of the first five events of the 2026 MLP season:

Weather Outlook for MLP New York

The weather looks to be good, except for Saturday. There is basically a 60% chance of rain on Saturday, which could really impact play. Don’t let the relatively low temperatures in the lower 80s fool you. The humidity levels are supposed to be in the 70%-80% range, making it very muggy. The ball will be moving much slower than it was in St. Pete indoors.

Top Storylines

Can anyone stop the two NY/NJ teams from facing each other for the Championship?

A LOT of trades/waivers happened earlier this week - who will show out in New York?

The two Texas based teams have a lot of question marks. Dallas just brought in Danni and Alix. Texas had Layne get hurt, and brought in Rafa and KK (again). Where do they land in New York?
