The PPA Tour crashed through milestones and set new records in 2022. This year they plan to take the game to a new level. The 'Carvana' PPA Tour is now offering the largest prize money purse in a single season.
According to a new press release, the tour will distribute $5.5 million spread across the 25 calendar events. $5.5 million is an 83% increase in payouts from 2022.
The tour will include stops in six new cities including Nashville, Seattle and Boca Raton. Broadcasting for the events will also break new barriers. The list of new broadcast partners includes ABC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, Tennis Channel, Amazon Prime and Fanduel TV.

For players, this means the days of scraping by to chase a hobby could be in the past. Provided that you play at the highest level. The tour indicated that on average, PPA touring pros earned $96,000 from tour payouts alone last year. Sheesh.
A growing trend in 2022 was players stepping away from a full-time job to focus on pickleball. The choice seems like a pretty easy one with those kinds of numbers. In 2023 there will be even more cheddar up for grabs.
"With the 2023 season’s prize purse increase, the PPA Tour anticipates average player earnings to increase by 63.9% in 2023."
That means the average player's compensation could be safely into six figures this year. On top of PPA Tour earnings players will have the opportunity to play for more prize money in Major League Pickleball. The first MLP event of 2023 is just around the corner. It starts next week in Mesa.
