A Comedy, Rom-Com, and Sports Movie Rolled into One

In an exclusive interview with lead writer Dan Brooks, we delved into the inspiration behind In a Pickle.

According to Brooks, everything about pickleball, from its simple-to-learn mechanics to the vibrant community surrounding it, inspired the screenplay.

He envisions the film as a gentle, joyful comedy that finds humor in situations without targeting anyone specifically.

Additionally, it incorporates elements of a rom-com and a sports movie, promising a narrative that resonates emotionally with the audience.

Brooks reveals that casting for In a Pickle is currently one of the most enjoyable aspects of the filmmaking process. With overwhelming interest from potential supporting actors, the team is still wish-casting for the main roles.

Given pickleball's popularity among celebrities, Dink Productions is hopeful about securing top-tier talent for the movie.

While "Dodgeball" set the bar for sports comedies, Brooks assures that In a Pickle aims to create a unique identity. With an abundance of community stories and experiences surrounding pickleball, the film aims to feel familiar to "Dodgeball" fans while standing on its own merits.
