The GOAT reached deep into his bag of tricks at PPA Worlds, unleashing a series of devastating left-handed forehands against Brandon French. Turns out, it's an old habit from his tennis days.
Ben Johns is and will always be the best male player to ever grace a pro pickleball court.
But even an old GOAT can learn new tricks.
Ben has added new shots to his repertoire over the years, like a killer twoey roll dink. But this year at PPA Worlds, he busted out a swing most of you never eve knew he had: a lefty forehand.
To state the obvious here, Ben is a right-handed player. He typically hits a forehand and a two-handed backhand just like the rest of us. You know, puts his pants one leg at a time and all that.
But for reasons currently unknown, he decided to dig into an old bag of tricks in a singles match against Brandon French and unleash a series of devastating left-handed forehands.
In a post-match interview, Ben conceded that back in his tennis days, he actually preferred two forehands. And he brought it into pickleball until it stopped working.
Welp. It's working again.
