Sewing Triples - APP Kuala Lumpur Open Recap

In the inaugural Global Pickleball Alliance event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Sofia Sewing earned her first ever triple crown. Vietnamese Phuc Huynh took home men's singles gold and first time partnership Ryan Fu and Jack Munro won men's doubles gold.

Women's Singles

To no one's surprise, the top two APP women, Sofia Sewing and Kat Stewart squared off in the finals on Saturday. Stewart had the advantage after game one, but then it was all Sewing in games two and three. The final scoreline was 1-11, 11-6, 11-9. The last game was a nailbiter the entire way.

Men's Singles

The Asian men's singles game is really good. Two international players, Phuc Huynh (Vietnam) and Hong Kit "Jack" Wong (Hong Kong), made the finals. Wong made quick work of Huynh in the finals, winning 11-7, 11-3. APP top pro Ronan Camron earned bronze.

Mixed Doubles

Casey Diamond and Sofia Sewing won yet another title in Kuala Lumpur. They defeated the newly formed partnership of Richard Livornese, Jr. and Megan Fudge in the finals, 11-5, 8-11, 11-9, in a tight three game match.

Women's Doubles

Megan Fudge and Sofia Sewing won their first title together in Kuala Lumpur. They defeated Amanda Hendry and Kat Stewart in the finals, 11-5, 11-9. Stewart seems to be on a similar trajectory to Sewing - she started as a singles specialist, but has really come a long way in doubles in the past year.

Men's Doubles

Jack Munro and Ryan Fu played for the first time and beat Tanner Tomassi and Richard Livornese, Jr. for the title. They won 11-8, 11-2. It will be interesting to see if Fu and Munro continue playing together.
