Pickleball Platform CourtReserve Secures $54M Investment: 'The Dream Is to Scale'
The engine powering the court-booking software for thousands of pickleball clubs nationwide is getting a major upgrade.
Club-management platform CourtReserve has taken a major leap forward.
Founders Tim Owens and Ashley Owens announced a $54 million growth investment from private‐equity firm Mainsail Partners—marking a bold new chapter in how court-based sports clubs manage scheduling, membership and player experiences.
"We realized we needed the right partner to achieve that vision, one who shares our values, understands SaaS at scale, and believes in what we’ve built," they said.
From sticky notes to thousands of clubs
CourtReserve’s story started in 2016, with a vision to replace labor-intensive spreadsheets, phone‐calls and emails at racquet sports clubs.
As Tim recounts:
It wasn’t with a big business plan or a boardroom pitch. It started with a wall full of sticky notes. Ideas scribbled late at night about how to make life easier for racquet court managers, players, and coaches.
They were both involved in their local racquet sports communities and felt there must be a better way.
Fast-forward to today, the company is “serving thousands of clubs and millions of players in the U.S. and beyond.” That kind of scale underscores why the Mainsail partnership matters.

Why this matters for pickleball clubs
For pickleball operators, CourtReserve’s growth signal carries weight.
With this investment, the company can scale while remaining connected to its mission.
- The new capital injection means faster innovation (“building even more powerful features and experiences for clubs and players”).
- It means deeper service and education support (“expanding our support, education, and training to help clubs grow their communities”).
- It means a renewed focus on the human side (“Every feature we’ve built … has been driven by people who care deeply about helping others play more of the sport they love”).

'The dream is to scale'
Rather than simply protecting what made them special, CourtReserve is now embracing growth:
“For years, we’ve said, ‘The dream is not for sale.’"
As the sport grows and continues to evolve, the company is looking to the future. And, say Tim and Ashley, they’ve realized something important:
To serve deeper, innovate faster, and create more measurable value for clubs and players everywhere, the dream must evolve.
Now, they're living by a new motto: "The dream is to scale."
For them, it's a stronger, more long-term version of the same original vision.

Not just another funding story
Given the announcement, here are three take-aways for clubs and operators:
- New feature rollouts are imminent. If you’re using CourtReserve (or evaluating it), expect slicker tools for membership, scheduling, lessons, leagues & ladders.
- Training and education will ramp. The company explicitly states they’ll help clubs “grow their communities and bring people together through play.”
- Customers first. A rigorous focus on "delivering exceptional value that allows every customer to thrive."
The engine powering the court-booking software for thousands of pickleball clubs nationwide, that is, is getting a major upgrade.
Clubs that lean into the coming wave—better software, stronger education, and deeper community-building—stand to benefit. As the founders put it:
“We’re more energized than ever to keep building, for you, with you, and because of you.”
This isn’t just another funding story. It’s a siren call: the tech, tools and infrastructure of our sport are evolving in a big way – and fast.
