Meet Xcaliber, Pickleball's Craziest-Looking, USAP-Approved Paddle
"Its pistol grip style supports a more natural wrist position and a secure hold through long matches."
In a recent lighthearted short from Pickleball Studio, Chris Olson reveals pickleball's most unorthodox paddle to the masses: the Xcaliber by XCELER8.
"I've found my new main, hope you're ready for this" he jokes, before unboxing a paddle both reviled or revered, depending on who you ask. Most players will scoff at its ergonomic "pistol grip" handle and highly unusual aesthetic. But for some, it just works.
True story: Chris and his brother Aizec have faced – and lost to – this exact paddle before in a tournament less than a year ago.

What exactly is going on here?
It's a fair question.
The Xcaliber isn't a new release; it's actually been USAP Approved since January 2025. It's the only model offered by the brand and retails for $229.
According to its website:
Xcaliber Ergo is a premium ergonomic pickleball paddle built for maximum power and confident control. Its pistol grip style supports a more natural wrist position and a secure hold through long matches. The elongated shape is a strong fit for competitive players who want high performance, and for seniors who want comfort, stability, and confidence without giving up power.
It is, without a doubt, unlike any other pickleball paddle on the market. With thousands of brands producing countless new models every day, that's saying something.

Why exactly Chris is unboxing one remains to be seen. But we'll be on the lookout for whatever content results.
Hopefully, he and Aizec are entering a tournament wielding Xcalibers of their own to avenge their previous defeat.
