Ignatowich and Todd Take Gold in Beer City

by The Dink Media Team on

The Beer City Open in Grand Rapid, MI kicked off Thursday with men's and women's pro singles. Parris Todd returned to the singles court after opting out of the last two tournaments. Her win streak moves to 5 consecutive wins.

The win streak includes a win over Anna Leigh Waters who was undefeated in 2022. Her last singles competition was that win over Waters in early June. She picked up right where she left off following a month away from the game.

Todd met Salome Devidze in another gold medal bout. It is like a pro tennis match when these two square off. It's baseline rip after baseline rip. Todd has quickly become one of if not the best at playing this type of pickleball.

Ignatowich Reaches a Milestone

The James Ignatowich stock continues to rise. He has been a threat in singles brackets throughout 2022 but finally reached the pinnacle yesterday. He had a trecherous run to gold meeting top players every step of the way.

Ignatowich beat JW. Johnson, Federico Staksrud and Zane Navratil on his way to the gold medal match. Ignatowich met Navratil again in the final. In two nail biter games, Ignatowich squeezed out the win 14-12, 12-10.  He battled cramping and rain delays to bring home his first gold.
