DUPR Reset Results Are In: Here's What 400,000 Match Results Reveal

by Alex E. Weaver on

After more than two months and 400,000 match results recorded, DUPR Reset ratings can now be found in the DUPR app

In March, we told you about DUPR Reset, an initiative to give players a risk-free opportunity to submit new games and have their DUPR pickleball rating reassessed based on their current skill level.

And you took DUPR up on it. So much so, they extended the deadline out a couple weeks to May 31.

Well, time is up and the results are in. And many thousands of expectant pickleball players are now learning their new fates. Or old fates. Or that their fates didn't in fact change at all.

"The Reset Period exceeded expectations, with participants adding over 400,000 match results," DUPR said via Instagram.

The goal of the DUPR Reset was to give players a risk-free opportunity to record recent DUPR matches and see how their rating could reflect recent performance with greater weight.

Final results are now available in the DUPR app.

DUPR Reset by the numbers:

  • 400,000 match results added from DUPR Reset participants alone
  • 57% of participants saw a higher DUPR rating as a result
  • 43% saw the same rating or lower
  • Of those whose ratings increased, 91% saw a bump of 0.3 or less
  • 8% of participants saw a rating increase between 0.3 and 0.5

And if you're curious why DUPR accuracy has been such a contentious issue in the community, the toughest problem in pickleball: inside DUPR's quest for accurate ratings is the full backstory. The initiative was also bolstered by the fact that DUPR is now the official ratings partner of USA Pickleball, adding institutional weight to the reset's credibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

What was the DUPR Reset?

The DUPR Reset was a limited-time initiative allowing pickleball players to submit new match results during a set window and have their DUPR pickleball rating reassessed with greater weight given to recent performance. The goal was to give players whose ratings no longer reflected their current skill level a risk-free way to correct that gap.

How many players participated in the DUPR Reset?

Participation exceeded DUPR's expectations, with over 400,000 match results added by DUPR Reset participants alone. The deadline was extended by two weeks to May 31 to accommodate the volume of player interest.

Did the DUPR Reset increase most players' ratings?

57% of participants saw a higher DUPR rating as a result of the reset, while 43% saw the same rating or a lower one. Of those who received a rating increase, 91% saw a bump of 0.3 or less, and only 8% saw an increase between 0.3 and 0.5.

Where can I find my new DUPR rating after the reset?

Your updated DUPR pickleball rating is now available in the DUPR app, available on the App Store. Simply log in and check your profile to see if your rating changed, held steady, or decreased based on your Reset Period match results.

Can I still use DUPR after the Reset Period ended?

Yes. The DUPR Reset was a special initiative, but the DUPR platform itself continues to operate normally. Players can still submit match results, track their ratings, and participate in DUPR-rated events, including through The Dink Minor League Pickleball, which feeds directly into the DUPR system.
