Square top. Round throat hole. No shame.
We've brought you plenty of funky paddles from the USA Pickleball archives before.
- There's Xcaliber, with the highly unorthodox "pistol grip."
- Or Drone Attack, which looks like it took a wrong turn on the assembly line floor.
- And who can forget the Kobo Axe Thunder, a bulbous alien head retailing for the low, low price of just $400.
But there's been nothing quite like what we're seeing from DadGum Paddles.
The brand has two paddles currently for sale: the Smoke (kevlar face, $229) and the Legend (carbon fiber face, $169).
The Legend just gained USAP approval yesterday.
It's safe to say we've yet to see a paddle that looks quite like either of these:
- First there's the shape: elongated with a super squared-off top
- Then there's the throat hole: small and perfectly round
- The grip appears to be short and very square
- Both also come with a DadGummies™ adjustable weight system, featuring slots on the top and sides to pop in or out 1-gram weight pods
The brand's website is professional-looking. And they appear to be the real deal.
We couldn't find a pickleball paddle that fit us...
Everything was either overpriced and "elite" or cheap and forgettable… it was boring or bougie.
No real innovation. No personality.
Across the board, every pickleball paddle felt the same.
We wanted...
Serious performance with real personality.
DadGum sits in the sweet spot. High performance pickleball paddles designed to compete at any level, with a brand that feels more like home than another corporate logo.
They're definitely not forgettable, we'll give them that.
